YESTAT Aid Receives Support Under SEQUIP II Initiative
The SEQUIP project also emphasizes gender equity, expanding access to girls' secondary education, improving teachers' housing in rural areas, and providing ICT tools to facilitate digital learning. YESTAT Aid’s support complements these national efforts, ensuring youth leadership, life skills, and STEM competencies are developed alongside traditional curricula.
With the collaboration of SEQUIP II, YESTAT Aid is helping create inclusive, safe, and innovative learning environments and sprots for thousands of Tanzanian students, contributing to long-term educational development and empowerment.
In 2025, YESTAT Aid was announced as a community partner contributing to Tanzania’s ongoing Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP II). The national programme, backed by the Government of Tanzania and the World Bank, aims to strengthen secondary education access, improve learning environments, and enhance infrastructure nationwide.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, in collaboration with the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), is implementing the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP). The main goal of this project is to improve teaching and learning environments in secondary schools. The project is planned for five years (2020/2021 to 2024/2025), covering Form I to Form VI students.
SEQUIP II is financed by the World Bank with a loan of USD 500 million (approx. TZS 1.2 trillion). Funds are disbursed based on agreed Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs) totaling USD 480 million, while USD 20 million is allocated for operational and technical advisory support (IPF). YESTAT Aid’s contribution is part of the community engagement component, focusing on digital skills, mentorship, and youth development programs.
SEQUIP II prioritizes safer schools, enhanced classrooms, improved sanitation, and teacher professional development. YESTAT Aid implements digital learning modules and STEM mentorship for students, bridging gaps in access to quality education and preparing young Tanzanians for a digital and knowledge-driven future.
“Education is the foundation for future growth. Our partnership with SEQUIP II empowers learners with the skills needed to thrive in a digital and knowledge-driven world.”
